Susana Rodrigues Santos
Coordinator

She holds a degree in Microbial Biology and Genetics at FCUL and continued her PhD in Molecular Biology at the same Faculty. She was a post-Doc researcher in cardio-genetics at FFUL and in cancer at IST. As of 2009, she is an Assistant Professor at ULHT in genetics, molecular biology, and biotechnology.

In 2013, she co-founded the start-up HeartGenetics, and Genetics and Biotechnology – a pioneer in Portugal in integrating genetic data and computer technology –, where she developed her activity as Scientific Director and Director of the Quality Management System until 2018. She has developed genetic tests for the diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, pharmacogenetics tests, and tests that promote health and well-being in the field of ​​nutrigenetics and athletic performance.

In 2018, she joined the company EXMceuticals Inc. as Director of Science and Genetics. EXMceuticals is dedicated to obtaining purified phytochemicals from medical cannabis. In 2019, she joined EXMCeuticals Portugal as Director of Innovation, centering her activity on the development of strategies for obtaining purified phytochemicals and their potential application in the areas of therapeutics, health, and well-being.
