We are an association of women for the promotion of responsible and sustainable production and consumption, and for the development of the circular economy, and low carbon, encouraging entrepreneurship, female empowerment, and gender equality.
Mission
What for?
To contribute to the disruption of the current model of economic development and to the transition to a circular economy paradigm, to chart the path towards greater social justice, economic prosperity, and gender equality. To foster the observance of civic duty and consumerism principles. In short, to switch from “business as usual” to “business as nature”.
With whom?
With the participation of all interested parties, we aim to promote synergies and foster cooperation between citizens, companies, services providers, the public sector, and academia. This, with a particular emphasis on women’s empowerment and women's center-stage role in the transition to a new, more just model of societal and economic development. We have a dedicated team of professional and experienced managers and technicians, as well as a network of partners and representatives in several countries; together, they aim to become a reference at both the national and international level.
How?
Through the promotion of innovative actions and solutions that mobilize education, awareness and training, consultancy, and the development and dissemination of sustainable products and services. These measures will contribute to changing consumption patterns and lifestyles and to the implementation of business models that are sustainable and promote gender equality. Whilst adhering to ‘Cradle to Cradle‘ principles and aiming for a circular design in the creation of materials, products, and systems, these measures will also contribute to decarbonizing the economy and enhancing female entrepreneurship.
At BasN, we strive to promote critical thinking and a healthy, civil debate. That debate will be focused on the transition to a greener economy, the increasing pace of technological progress, the exchange of information and know-how, and the carrying out of concrete steps and projects to instill consumerism and advance gender equality.
Values
At BasN, we possess 5 golden rules that inform our daily conduct. Those are: responsibility; resilience; innovation; transparency; sustainability. In short, RRITS.
RESPONSIBILITY
At BasN, we cherish the principles of respect, rigor, professionalism, and integrity, and try to act accordingly. For these are the main pillars on which our relationship with other people and entities, our defending climate and social justice, and our commitment to securing the interests of future generations stand.
.
RESILIENCE
We strongly believe that optimism and the ability to adapt to new circumstances ate the two great keys to success. This is why we strive to adopt new solutions to problems old and new, and to maintain a positive attitude so as to better face and overcome adversity.
INNOVATION
We put old paradigms and ways of thinking aside, in a critical and creative manner, to continuously work towards greater improvements and increased effectiveness.
TRANSPARENCY
We feel our transparent communication is the basis for developing mutual trust with other interested, like-minded entities, and for the expansion of our network to include new people and places.
SUSTAINABILITY
It is our role to promote the implementation of new sustainable development paradigms, thus creating added value to our communities and honoring our pledge to defend the needs of future generations. That is, to satisfy the demands of today and tomorrow, whilst refraining from pushing the planet’s ecosystem to its breaking point.
Objectives
The objectives of BasN are
a)
The promotion of sustainable modes of production and consumption, and the development of the circular economy, can be achieved through citizens' initiatives and by changing consumers' consumption habits. Furthermore, these goals can be achieved through the efficient management of the planet's scarce resources by all economic actors;
b)
The promotion of gender equality and the highlighting of women's roles as crucial agents in the transition to more consumerist practices, in the growing use of sustainable products, and in organizing events promoting the circular economy;
c)
Providing support to environmentally conscious entrepreneurs, to organizers of events promoting the circular economy, and to those entities working towards implementing circular economy models and creating sustainable, smart cities;
d)
The implementation of strategies that further the preservation, restoration, and the resilience of natural ecosystems, achieved through the principle of regional subsidiarity;
e)
To influence public policy (at the national, European, and international levels), so as to integrate the interests of future generations into the decision-making processes of today.
